Diane Cavicchio Obituary

Diane Marie Cavicchio, loving mother, caring sister, and devoted aunt and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Framingham on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. She was 63.

Diane was born in Brighton, MA to the late John J. and Bernardine B. (Crowley) Baker, the second oldest of seven children. Raised in Framingham, she marched with the Sharpshooters and Renaissance Drum Corps., where she made many of her lifelong friends. She went on to graduate from Keefe Technical School in 1979 and worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant before transitioning into a long career in custom picture framing.

Diane was full of stories, had a wicked sense of humor, and was an excellent cook. Nothing made her happier than to be gathered with her family and friends. She was the person her loved ones called for calm advice as a new mom, a cook, or with their health questions.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James "Jimmy” Cavicchio, whom she took care of for many years before his death. In a testament to their love for each other and their vibrant personalities, many people recall Jimmy and Diane's wedding as the best party they've ever been to.

After her husband's passing, Diane was often called on to use her skills and experience to take care of other terminally ill people in her community. Selfless and kind-hearted, she never said no, and as a result, was a great comfort and loving caretaker to many people in their most difficult times.

But her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was raising her two sons, Jason J. Cavicchio and Anthony J. Cavicchio, both of Framingham.

Diane showered them with homemade baked goods and her famous lasagna. In one of her final Facebook posts, she shared, "Real true happiness is realizing that your kids have turned out to be really good people." Diane spent her last day on Earth hanging out with both her sons, who are really good people, and who made her truly happy.

In addition to her sons, Diane is survived by her two brothers, Paul M. Baker of NH and John L. Baker of Marlborough; four sisters, Deborah A. Baker, Denise M. Baker, Catherine A. Baker, all of Marlborough, Dina Mehaffey and her husband Doug of Holden; four nieces, Pamela, Sonia, Elizabeth, and Amanda; and great niece and nephew, Madison, Dominic and Wyatt.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024, from 10-12 pm in the Short & Rowe Funeral Home, 95 W. Main St., Marlborough, MA. A Funeral Service will be held at 12 pm, also in the Funeral Home.
